A man in California died on Tuesday when the van he was in caught on fire. He allegedly had just tried to steal gas from a gas station.
Investigators say it appeared that the man was trying to steal gas from a nearby 76 gas station. At some point, a fire was sparked inside the car, eventually engulfing the vehicle in flames, according to KABC.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that officers and Los Angeles City Fire officials received a call about a van on fire at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. When firefighters put out the blaze, they discovered the body of a man in the driver's seat.
CBS Los Angeles reports that the victim of the fire has been identified by family members as Richard Glover.

Ivan Jackson, who said Glover is his brother-in-law, told KABC that Glover’s family warned him to stop stealing gas.
"His funds are low, whatever I don't know why he started doing it, but the family has been asking him to stop, stop, stop, stop doing it," Jackson said. "I got the news from my sister this morning, so I had to come see for myself, I couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe it. I feel sorry for him, my poor little sister, all by herself, they've got three kids."
A gas station security guard said the blast sent a fireball more than 10 feet into the air.
“It was like ‘boop’ … and it blew the window out over there,” Hervia Robertson told CBS Los Angeles.
