Lake Mary, Florida police report that George Zimmerman is currently being held in investigative detention after his estranged wife called police today saying Zimmerman threatened her with a gun.

Police were called to Shellie Zimmerman’s parent’s house at around 2:30 p.m. eastern today.

Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said police are "trying to determine what exactly happened."

According to Chief Steve Bracknell, Shellie Zimmerman called 911 saying Zimmerman had a gun and was making threats towards her.

Shellie Zimmerman recently filed for divorce from George Zimmerman. She and her family are not speaking to police at this time while they wait for their attorney to arrive.

"As of right now, (George Zimmerman) has been placed in investigative detention," Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said. "Anytime we have anybody suspected of doing anything, we place them in investigative detention until a complete investigation has been done.”

This is Zimmerman’s third run-in with the law since being acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin on July 13, 2013. Zimmerman was pulled over twice for speeding before today’s incident.
