Boy Saves His Sister After Dog Grabs Her, Starts Dragging Her Across Yard (Video)

A 10-year-old boy fought bravely to save his sister from a dog, after it grabbed her and dragged her around the backyard.

In surveillance footage of the event, a German Shepherd named Sheru grabs 15-month-old Kanchi Dhanani in its jaws as the girl’s brother, Kashish, attempts to save her. Eventually, others enter the scene and are able to distract the dog.

According to one report, Kanchi and Kashish were playing in their backyard in Ahmedaband, India, when the young dog attacked. Fortunately, Kanchi didn’t suffer from any injuries, though her brother sustained a few scrapes and bruises.

“I don’t know why Sheru suddenly attacked Kanchi. We had not even disturbed him,” Kashish said. “We were playing on our own but suddenly he jumped at Kanchi and started dragging her.”

The siblings’ mother Kamini Dhanani recalled that Sheru was in a playful mood the morning of the attack, and that a walk earlier in the day hadn’t tired the 10-month-old pup out.

"It was the most dreadful moment of my life," Dhanani said.

Though children, who often provoke animals, are easy targets for dogs, it appears that neither of the children enticed Sheru and that the dog attacked on its own.

Sheru has since been moved to a different location in the city.
