Racial Slur Tagged On Black Woman's Garage Door In Wealthy D.C. Neighborhood

Not long after moving into a wealthy Washington, D.C. neighborhood, one woman was shocked to discover that someone had spray painted a racial slur on her garage door.

According to WTOP, the unidentified woman was told about the act of vandalism by a neighbor who noticed it early one morning, and the two helped each other get the paint off of the garage door before calling police. The incident likely occured between the hours of 2 p.m. on Sunday and 7 a.m. on Monday, and the words "N****r go home" were plastered across the black woman's home with red spray paint.

Police eventually arrived to address the situation and are now, according to various reports, investigating the incident as a hate crime.

"The victim has just moved in a little over a week ago," Montgomery County Police Captain Paul Starks told WTOP.

In an attempt to locate the person or persons responsible, local police tweeted a picture of the vandalized door this week. The investigation is reportedly ongoing.
