Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has officially endorsed Donald Trump for the Republican party's presidential nomination (video below).
"He's actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America," Carson said at a March 11 press conference at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. "There's two different Donald Trumps. There's the one you see on the stage and there’s the one that's very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully. You can have a very good conversation with him. That’s the Donald Trump that you’re going to start seeing more and more of right now.”
Carson also said that unification within the Republican party must take place around the leading candidate -- which is currently Trump.
“I want the voice of the people to be heard … I think the Republican Party particularly would be very wise not to adopt a let’s stop this guy and let’s promote this guy policy, but rather, start thinking about what are the things that are going to be helpful for America,” Carson said.

Trump introduced Carson at the press conference and showed great appreciation for his endorsement.
“Everybody wanted his endorsement. Everybody loves him, and truly, truly admires what he’s done,” Trump said. “His life has been an incredible life. It’s been an awe-inspiring life. I just want to tell you that having his support, it adds just total credence to what I am trying to do, to what we’re all trying to do.”
“[Carson] is a special, special person -- special man,” Trump said right before Carson took the mic.
Carson and Trump did not always agree while they were both on the campaign trail and Carson addressed the former contention between them at the press conference.

“We buried the hatchet ... We move on because it’s not about me. It’s not about Mr. Trump. It’s about America,” he said.
Carson added that while speaking with Trump he found they are in alignment on spiritual and philosophical matters.
Carson is the second former GOP presidential candidate to endorse Trump, following Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, CNN reports.
