Austin Mayor Furious After Vandals Post Controversial Stickers On City Businesses

| by Amanda Andrade-Rhoades

The mayor of Austin, Texas, is angry at his constituents who are posting stickers that read: "exclusively for white people.”

In a statement, Mayor Steve Adler said, "This is an appalling and offensive display of ignorance in our city… Our city is a place where respect for all people is a part of our spirit and soul. We will keep it that way."

The mayor said the stickers, which look official and use the city’s logo, do not represent Austin. The stickers were placed on several businesses in East Austin between midnight Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

"The stickers were neither produced nor knowingly displayed by the businesses and were removed by their employees when discovered this morning," he said, according to CNN.
