A 70-year-old Seattle woman escaped an attempted armed robbery Saturday after the three young men trying to steal her car could not drive a vehicle with a stick shift.
Three young men with a gun stopped Nancy Fredrickson outside her home Saturday afternoon and told her to give them her car keys, according to Q13FOX.com.
At the time, Fredrickson said she was unpacking her trunk of items she had just purchased at a garage sale, and she initially thought the men trying to rob her were joking.
After she saw the gun, Fredrickson said she threw her keys on the ground.

“I’m glad I didn’t panic,” she said. “I was proud of myself.”
The three men entered her car and tried to start it, but could not figure out how to work the manual vehicle.
“I could hear them trying. They put the keys in, they turned the lock, but they couldn’t figure out how to get it started,” Fredrickson said.
The men soon stopped trying to drive the car away and instead fled through a nearby parking lot, where they were seen on surveillance video. Police have not been able to identify or arrest the men yet.

“Afterwards I just said Father, forgive them for they know not what they did,” she said.
She added that she is glad she was not hurt during the attempted armed robbery.
“I’m 70 years old,” Fredrickson said. “I’ve got a lot of life left in me.”
The men allegedly involved in the attempted burglary were described as black and possibly in their teens. They were wearing hooded sweatshirts at the time of the attempted robbery and were last seen Saturday afternoon running north on 14th Avenue toward Yesler Way.
