Murder suspect Anthony Tyron Mayo allegedly beat his wife to death with a vacuum cleaner and then went on the run for six months before police were finally able to arrest him on Tuesday.

Mayo, 37, is suspected of killing his wife. Beverly McFarlane, 40, in August 2012 at their home in North Las Vegas. He has two children with McFarlane.

Police allege that he strangled and then hit her on the head with the cleaning device after an argument. She was taken to University Medical Center where she died two weeks later from severe brain injures, according to NY Daily News.

While Mayo was on the lam, prosecutors filed murder, coercion and domestic battery by strangulation charges against him. He is now in an LAPD jail cell awaiting extradition to Nevada. Mayo was captured by an FBI-Los Angeles police taskforce.
