A bizarre sea creature was found on a beach in Villaricos, Spain on August 15, but no one seems to know exactly what it is.
The creature is about 13 feet long and looks like a very thick snake with long horns.
It was discovered by a swimmer who found the head and then the body further down the beach, noted DigitalJournal.com (video below).
"We have no idea what it can be, but it smelled bad, because it was so badly decomposed. A lady found one part, and we helped her retrieve the rest. We have no idea what it was. It really stank, as it was in the advanced stages of decomposition," said Civil Protection Coordinator Maria Sanchez.

However, discovering what the creature is will be difficult as authorities have buried the carcass because of "health reasons."
The Association in Defense of Marine Fauna (in Spain) is distributing pictures of the beast to experts around the world.
A spokesman for the Marine Biological Association in the UK added: "A few people have said it could be the backbone of a shark with the rest of it decaying away. Really we would need a vertebrae to properly identify it. If it was a shark it would have cartilage skeleton as opposed to bone. As for the horns, it's pretty inconclusive. No one knows of anything with horns in the sea. From the picture you wonder if it is even part of the creature."
