Puppy Found Abandoned In Dumpster With Broken Legs

Police in Santa Rosa, California, are looking threw an injured Chihuahua puppy into a dumpster at Santa Rosa Junior College.

The puppy, who had two broken legs, was found by an employee on the morning of Oct. 27, the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reported. The unidentified employee took the pooch to a pet hospital, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The puppy was later taken in by Sonoma County Animal Services, who are currently investigating the incident. The dog didn't have a collar or a microchip. 

The puppy is now in recovery and currently sporting two bright pink leg casts. It's unclear whether the puppy's injuries were intentionally inflicted or not, according to a veterinarian at Sonoma County Animal Services.

Approximately 3.9 million dogs enter animal shelters in the U.S. every year, according to the ASPCA.
