In Henrico County, Va., a family lost their son, Ricky Ellerbe, to a murderer and their dog to the police in less than 24 hours.

"He'd taken the bus up to my place to borrow the money last night," said Ricky's uncle Henry Hamiel to the News and Advance. "He just wanted a video or something."

Hours later, Ricky's body turned up shot just yards from his destination at a 360 Express Mart.

"He probably had been out there dead all night," said Ricky's mother, Nannie. "We called and called and called [his cell phone] and no one answered."

To make matters worse, a Henrico County police officer shot and killed the Ellerbe family pitbull dog when it broke off its leash and allegedly charged.

The unidentified police officer and a police detective were at the Ellerbe home to tell them that Ellerbe's body was discovered at about 6 a.m. today in an alley.

"They had told me my brother was dead and I'd come out back to cry on the porch and [the dog] must have heard them," said Ricky's sister, LaToya. "He ran into the front yard and the officer shot him."
