Evansville, Illinois Police Department Sgt. Brian Hildebrandt teamed up with local civilians recently to reunite a few distressed little ducklings with their mother.

A video shows the ducklings had fallen down into a storm drain while crossing a road and had no way of getting out. The mother duck was pacing around the drain in stress when Hildebrandt arrived.

With the help of Sgt. Hildebrandt, a plumber, and a few other kind hearts, the ducklings were rescued and returned to their mother. This is the “serve” part of “protect and serve” that people would like to see more often:
