| by Sean Kelly

The incredible moment that a veterinarian joined a scared abandoned dog inside of a cage was caught on video (shown below).

Dr. Andy Mathis is seen in the video sitting in a cage with Graycie, who was taken in by the Grante Hills Animal Care in Elberton, Georgia. Graycie was found abandoned miles from her home.

"She was dumped in the middle of nowhere," Mathis said according to ABC.

"She had a collar, so she was owned by somebody at some point. Whoever was feeding her wasn’t feeding her enough. She was 20 pounds when we found her and probably should have weighed 30 to 35 pounds."

Mathis said that Graycie is still learning to trust Mathis, and that she's still timid around him. "I'm spending time with her so she's not scared of me," he said.

In the video, Mathis can be seen sharing a meal with Graycie.

"I said 'I'm just going to sit here with you while you're eating,'" he said. "By getting her out of her comfort zone a little bit we hope she’ll get used to people."

This video is approaching 85,000 shares on Facebook, says Daily Mail.
