Dog Saves Baby From Kidnapping By Armed Robbers

| by Jordan Smith

A baby was saved by a family pet from being kidnapped when armed intruders broke into an Indianapolis home.

Nayeli Garzon-Jimenez was at home with her 3-month-old baby when she heard someone trying to force their way into the house, the New York Daily News reported.

Garzon-Jimenez was on the phone with her husband, Adolfo Angeles-Morales, who was at work. He told her to go and check who was at the door.

As they were on the phone, one of the intruders broke a piece of glass in the front door to try to get into the home.

“In the same second, I hear the noise over my phone and she started screaming and crying and said someone just stuck their hand in the door,” he said.

A man and a woman entered the home and demanded money from Garzon-Jimenez. Although the mother does not speak English, she was able to understand they wanted cash, but she had none to give.

The man allegedly said he would take the baby if the mother did not give him money.

The woman then snatched Garzon-Jimenez’s daughter from her arms and tried to make a quick getaway, something the mother did her best to prevent.

“She fought with the lady, because she tried to go by the kitchen, and she held her by the shirt. Then guy come back and hit her with a gun,” Angeles-Morales added.

Garzon-Jimenez had a cut to her forehead from the blow.

Then one of the family’s pit bulls came to the rescue and prevented the intruders’ escape.

“She [tried] to run away through the back door, but one of the doggies -- he didn’t let her go through the back door,” Angeles-Morales said, according to the Daily Mail.

The gray dog snarled at the woman, forcing her to turn back and go toward the front door of the house. As she left, the female intruder threw the baby back to Garzon-Jimenez.

The couple’s daughter was unharmed during the incident, but Garzon-Jimenez required treatment for her cuts.

“Thank God everything’s OK, my baby and my wife,” said Angeles-Morales.
