A Canadian man was heartbroken when he discovered that his beloved German shepherd was stolen from his backyard, but 18 months later, he stumbled upon a picture of his dog on a local rescue shelter’s website.
Reports say that Richard Brower was “devastated” when his dog Dozer was stolen from his backyard, and 18 months later, he finally got around to accepting that his dog wasn’t coming back.
In a shocking twist of fate, Brower was randomly browsing through the website for the Claresholm Rescue Society one day when he suddenly stumbled upon a photo of Dozer that left him “shaking.”
Brower immediately called his father, who lived close to the shelter, to ask him to pay them a visit and make sure that the dog was in fact Dozer.

“One of the first things I taught [Dozer] was to snap my fingers, and then he’ll come around to my right side and wait for his second command,” Brower said. “So I asked dad to go in the cage. The lady was there, and I didn’t say what he would do, I just said, ‘Snap your fingers.’”
What happened next left everyone in tears.
“Then I said, ‘What did he do?’ He said, ‘He’s sitting on my right-hand side looking straight up at me,’” Brower recalled. “The lady at Claresholm started crying, I started crying, and all the other people at the shelter were crying.”

Soon after, Dozer was reunited with Brower, and now, the Alberta man says the German shepherd has been rightfully “spoiled.”
“It was just amazing when he got home,” Brower said. “As soon as he got on the block, dad said his tail started wagging, and as soon as he pulled into the driveway I opened the door and he just flew right in and buried his head in my armpit and just started whining like a baby.”
