Man Accidentally Shoots Brother While Trying to Slaughter Pig

| by Michael Allen

A man, who was trying slaughter a pig in Elk Grove, California, accidentally shot his younger brother in the face (video below).

The two unidentified brothers woke up early Saturday morning to slaughter one of their pigs. The older brother had the .22 caliber rifle, while his younger brother, a man in his late 20s, stood by.

Officer Chris Trim told CBS Sacramento: "The pig bucked, and the rifle went backwards, and it went off again a second time."

The second shot would hit the younger brother directly in the face.

One family member, who didn’t give their name,  told CBS Sacramento: "I’m 100 percent positive this is an accident."

Police say the man is now in critical condition at a local hospital.

Officer Trim said: "Talking to numerous witnesses, but at this point, it does not appear to be an intentional act."

The unnamed family member said: “He’s a great person. Hopefully he gets better, and hopefully he makes it through."
