Lions Fight Crocodile In Epic Battle Over Elephant Carcass (Video)

A massive crocodile and a lion fought over the carcass of a dead elephant in an epic viral video.

Not long after an elephant died, a young male lion and a Nile crocodile, the largest reptilian predator in the world, approached the carcass. Although the two initially fought it out, two other lions later joined the battle.

After tons of splashing in the water, one lion was left with a bloody leg.

Kai Banks, who filmed the rare event on a trip to Samburu National Reserve in Kenya, wrote in the video description that the animals actually fought twice. The first fight was caught on camera, and the second in still photos.

“My family and I managed to catch an extremely rare event on camera,” Banks wrote in the YouTube description box. “We knew it was something special when our guide’s mouth dropped open as soon as the lions jumped onto the crocodile.”

The second fight, in stills, can be seen in slow motion as the lions bat at the reptile’s snout and pile on top of the creature. The crocodile eventually retreats defeated.

The photos even include the victory meal.
