| by Denise A Justin

LAPORTE, IND – Rebecca Bermudez, 40, and Jackie Koker, 44, of Westville allegedly invited a 5-year-old girl to join them as they engaged in sex acts with the family pit bull, according to a June 23, 2011, report by The Herald-Argus.

Officials became aware of the incident and assigned an officer on June 7, after the alleged victim told another person about the encounter, according to court papers.

The evidentiary findings were presented to La Porte Circuit Court on Thursday, July 21.

Bermudez, 40, is charged with Class C felony child molesting along with bestiality and aiding, inducing or causing bestiality, both Class D felonies.

Kocher, 44, is charged with bestiality, aiding, inducing or causing bestiality and aiding, inducing or causing child molesting, and all Class D felonies.

The Herald Argus reports that both defendants are being held in La Porte County Jail and will be arraigned before Judge Tom Alevizos on Friday. A $25,000 cash-only bond was set.

Investigators who filed the case stated that sometime in May or early June the child, who was a relative of one of the defendants, entered a bedroom and found Koker and Bermudez in bed together.

“They were both naked and were engaging in a sexual act with the family’s pit bull," court documents revealed,

“The girl also told Westville police that Koker allowed her to remove her clothing and climb into bed with them and take part in the act.”

The Herald-Argus reports, “according to court documents, the girl said Koker then explained to her ‘where babies come from’ and proceeded to demonstrate by having intercourse with Bermudez.

"The girl said Bermudez then allowed her to touch her in a sexual manner,” according to court documents.

No animal cruelty charges were reported and there was no indication of the whereabouts of the pit bull.

Westville is about 40 miles from Chicago and has a population of 5,853, according to the 2010 census.
