Bullfighter Karla de los Angeles was gored twice by the same bull at an event in Mexico City on Sunday, according to reports. The bullfight took place at Plaza Mexico, the world’s largest bullring. There were reportedly over 5,000 people in attendance.
De los Angeles went in to kill the 1,090-pound bull, named Gamusino, when he suddenly threw her over his head. She was taken out and treated by medics before returning to the bullring for her next attempt to take out the massive animal.
When she attempted to kill Gamusino for a second time, she was quickly gored again. The bull then went after de los Angeles’ assistant, Federico Dominguez. He was gored and sustained injuries. One other assistant was hurt by the bull, as was a farmer who reportedly got a concussion and remains in serious condition.
De los Angeles’ injuries included two cuts, measuring 4.7 inches and 3.9 inches in length, to her thigh and gluteal muscles.
“I'm sad because I could not cut off an ear and I could not kill a second bull,” the bullfighter said. “It was [a very bloody run], there were many mishaps, thank God, so far as it goes, we're fine. You have to accept it as it is, to recover and what comes.”
