Fat Cat ‘Holly’ Swims to Shed Pounds (Video)

| by Alex Groberman

The term ‘fat cat’ gets thrown around somewhat frequently these days, but rarely is it used to describe an actual cat. That changes here and now.

America, meet Holly: a 13-year-old feline that weighs in at a whopping 18 pounds.

Congress just passed a drug testing law that has a lot of people outraged. Do you think this is wrong?

Presumably at some point around New Year’s, Holly (and her owner) decided that it would probably be best for all involved if she got in shape. Because cats — like the rest of us — are lazy, finding a task that the 13-year-old could commit to regularly proved to be harder than you would think.

"It's the only physical activity this cat has,'' Olde Towne publicist Mayra Ruiz-McPherson told TODAY.com.” Otherwise, she is a one thousand percent couch potato.''

How did Holly get into swimming, you ask? Well..

"It was more an experiment than anything,'' Ruiz-McPherson said.” (Lawhorne) saw that the cat didn't get too upset when she gave it baths, so she thought, 'I wonder what would happen if I threw her butt in the pool?'"

What should you take away from Holly’s tale? Mostly just that America’s obesity problem is way worse than anyone originally anticipated.
