Houston Police Officer Mark Condon shot his neighbor's dog in front of its 12-year-old owner last Friday in Harris County, Texas.
"The dog charged us and attacked me, my wife and one of our dogs," Condon told KOHU-TV.
Condon, who was off-duty at the time, shot the dog after it escaped from his neighbor's garden by accident. He claims that the injuries he, his wife and dog suffered have been recorded by police.
However, the dog's owner 12-year-old Dalton Fitzhenry says the boxer, "Gunner," only wanted to play.
"[Condon] just pulled it out, like, point-blank range and shot," Dalton said. "Gunner didn’t have the chance to run."

“[Dalton] was screaming and crying, and the cop just had the gun in his hand saying, ‘It’s OK, I’m a cop,’” said Dalton's mother, Kim Fitzhenry.
The Fitzhenrys plan to file a formal complaint with the Houston Police Department.
"I have owned dogs and have been an animal lover my entire life," Condon said. "The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt an animal, especially someone’s pet."
Neighbors on the street say their children had played with the dog in the past.
