Canines competed in the DockDogs Western Regional Championships at the Cannery Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, May 31 through June 2 (video below).

A 40-foot dock was constructed with a temporary above-ground swimming pool, which held 27,000 gallons of water.

Dogs competed in various contests, including the Outdoor Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve.

Congress just passed a drug testing law that has a lot of people outraged. Do you think this is wrong?

The Outdoor Big Air competition judges the length of a dog’s jump while leaping into a pool of water after an object.

The Extreme Vertical features dogs lunging in the air to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air.

In Speed Retrieve, dogs jump into the pool, swim to the other end and stop the clock by taking a bone-shaped object between their teeth.

“We’ve got everything from the smallest Pomeranian to the largest Great Dane,” DockDogs spokesman Brian King told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

King said that dogs can be disqualified if their owners do not pick up their doggy defecation: “If you don’t pick it up, you’re out."
