After making headlines for walking 30 miles back to the owners that gave her up, a famous black lab named Lady has finally found a new loving home.
Lady was first adopted by a Kansas family after her beloved owner died in 2012, but the family wound up giving her back to a shelter because they felt she was too rough with their puppy. Lady was soon thereafter adopted by a second family, but the willful dog apparently missed the first family so much that she walked 30 miles to where they lived in the hopes that they’d take her back.
After her 30-mile journey, both adoptive families decided they didn’t want Lady anymore, so for the third time, the dog landed back in the shelter.
After the story of Lady’s 30-mile journey went viral, Wrigley Gum heiress Helen Rosburg heard about it and decided to send her assistant on her private jet from Florida to Kansas to adopt the dog herself.
Now, Lady is living out the rest of her elderly years in Rosburg’s fancy estate where she will be cared for properly.
“She's going to think she's gone to heaven,” said Chet Ragsdale, Rosburg’s assistant.
