A small dog in England that was set on fire, fed drugs, suffered broken bones and left for dead miraculously survived the attack.

A Chihuahua crossbreed puppy, Chunky had reportedly been tortured for several hours before he was finally discovered in Margate, England.

"This was the most disturbing case I have ever dealt with, by an absolute mile," said Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals officer Caroline Doe.

The group of teenagers gave drugs to the animal and lit his face and eyes on fire by lighting a deodorant aerosol can, reports the Evening Standard. The children also repeatedly kicked and punched the animal and twisted his neck.

“What was perhaps even worse was the fact Chunky suffered for days after he was dumped — literally left for dead on his own to wander next to a fast road,” Doe recalled.

The puppy was found with burns on his face and eyes, in addition to a broken leg and neck.

"He must have suffered horrendously for hours as the senseless torture took place for the amusement of these boys,” Doe stated.

All four teenagers have been banned from keeping animals for five years. Three of the teenagers, two of whom were 16 and the other 15, admitted to engaging in animal cruelty.

They were ordered to pay $3,000 and given 12-month referral orders. The fourth teenager, aged 16, pleaded guilty to the same charges under Britain's Animal Welfare Act, according to Daily Mail. He was also given a 12-month referral order and his family was fined $8,700.

“Thankfully, he has now been restored to health and returned to his loving owners, though I fear he will always be timid and nervous as a result of his ordeal, and imagine the owners will never quite be able to come to terms with what was senseless and needlessly inflicted on their beautiful family pet,” Doe said, according to the Standard.

“The whole thing sends shivers down my spine."
