Woman’s Suicide Attempt Stopped by Loyal Dog’s Intervention

Early last year, a 63-year-old woman’s suicide attempt was hampered when her dog sprang into action and diverted the shot she had aimed directly at her own heart.

The incident happened in the southern French town of Sorgues.

The woman had gone outside into her garden to fire some test shots with her 22-calibre rifle. When she was finished, she turned the gun on to herself and tried to pull the trigger.

“At the moment she pulled the trigger, her dog jumped on her and diverted the shot,” a local police officer said, noting that the dog “probably sensed things and knocked into her to save her.”

Although the woman still shot herself in the incident, her German Shepherd managed to prevent her from hitting any vital organs.

Inquisitr reports that the woman’s husband found her as she lay unconscious with a chest wound. Paramedics arrived and brought the woman to a hospital with what are considered non-life-threatening injuries.
