Cat Serial Killer Investigation After 4 Cats Brutally Killed

Investigators are looking into a set of cases where cats were brutally killed in the same area near Hudson River Valley. They believe one person is responsible for the deaths.

Authorities said a man called the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on January 7 and explained that his cat was shot.

The female Calico cat named “Blackfoot” was found with a neck wound and was paralyzed from its mid-section to its hind paws.

She was taken to a nearby pet hospital where veterinarians did an X-Ray and found she had a metal projectile embedded in her spine. They believe a BB gun or low-caliber rifle was used to shoot the projectile into the cat.

Blackfoot also had a spinal fracture which she likely obtained from a blunt force trauma.

“I believe the person called her over, they shot her in the back, then kicked her,” Blackfoot’s owner Robert Kitts said.

She was under veterinary care at Westchester Animal Hospital until February 11, when she died from progressive paralysis.

Authorities now believe the case might be related to several other cases of cat abuse dating back to July. In one incident, a severed cat head was found staged in an intersection half a mile from where Blackfoot was shot. There were also two other cat beheadings in July a few miles away in Connecticut.

“We responded to a call not quite half a mile from here where we found a decapitated cat’s head that was placed in the middle of the road,” Ken Ross of the Putnam County SPCA said. “That took place within a month of two cats that were found nearby in Connecticut in the same condition.”

It is feared that the animal killer might move onto killing humans next.

“It’s moving into the realm of - something’s going to happen to a human,” Ross said. “Something’s going to be done to a human because this person no longer has the control to hold back.”
