Bear Rolls Garbage Dumpster Away From Restaurant (Video)

| by Michael Allen

A smart and hungry bear rolled a restaurant's garbage dumpster 50 feet into a parking lot and flipped it over to get the food inside on Wednesday.

The bear was caught on the surveillance video (below) of the Edelweiss Restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"There's some fresh, really good food attracting the bear," the restaurant's manager, Dieter Schnakenberg, told The Denver Post. "She passes up the recycling bin and goes right for the good stuff."

The bear returned to the restaurant for another meal early Thursday and has reportedly hit other garbage bins in the neighborhood.

Schnakenberg said the restaurant was "going to have to do something" to stop the bear, such as chaining the bins to a nearby fence or locking the lid.

Officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife support securing the dumpster, but if the bear returns they may have to tag and relocate it, or possibly euthanize the animal.
