Aaron Armstrong was charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly shot a dog with a BB gun about 100 times in Waldoboro, Maine.

A labrador retriever named “Lady” had  X-rays taken earlier this week that showed the dog had numerous small pellets lodged under her skin.

Armstrong was charged with class C felony aggravated animal cruelty, notes WGME-TV.

“She was really super friendly and a sweetheart when I picked her up from a resident’s home after she showed up there,” Lincoln County Animal Shelter worker Laurice Ducharme told the Penobscot Bay Pilot. “She’s about one year old, a black Lab cross, and she’s a sweetheart.”

“She really has the best temperament for something that has gone through what she has, and she now has a wonderful man and his wife caring for her."

Fortunately, the BBs did not injure any of the dog's vital organs and the wounds have healed.

Armstrong is being held in jail on a $25,000 bail.
