3 Pit Bulls Attack Dad Shielding Daughter; Police Charge Teen Owner Nyisha Banks

Three pit bulls belonging to 17-year-old Nyisha Banks (pictured) ran out of an open gate on Monday and attacked a Long Island father who stepped in front of his daughter to shield her from the pack of vicious dogs.

The 44-year-old man,whose name is withheld, is recovering at a local hospital from the severe bite wounds to his arms, legs and torso he suffered while saving his child, according to WABC-TV. The girl was not injured.

A 16-year-old boy who heard the barking and screaming ran from his home to help the father fight off the dogs and he was also bitten. Both victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.  

Banks and another juvenile finally came out of the house at 108 Maplewood Drive in New Casell and took the dogs inside.

Banks and the second juvenile are being charged by the police with reckless endangerment, according to NBCNewYork.com.
