An eight-year-old girl was attacked by three Pit Bulls in Santa Monica, California on Sunday night, April 20. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of 21st Street, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Officers responded to a call of a dog bite at about 8 PM, says SMPD Sgt. Jay Moroso said. They discovered that an attack involving three Pit Bulls occurred in the yard of a private residence.

"The yard had several apartments on the premises," Moroso told The Mirror. "As the girl and her mother arrived, the dogs came out of a residence and bit her."

The girl sustained severe bite wounds to her left shoulder area, her left foot and calf, and left buttocks. She was taken to a local hospital and received multiple stitches, Moroso said.

The three dogs involved in the incident were taken from the owners for a 10-day quarantine by the SMPD’s Animal Control Unit. There was no information as to whether the dogs had current rabies vaccinations or are licensed.

The young victim is now resting at home.

“The initial police investigation has found no evidence of criminal conduct committed by the dog owners,” Moroso said.
