Kasandra Benavides, 15, was feeding her family’s two 8-month-old puppies outside their Houston-area home on Wednesday, when the dogs suddenly lunged at her and began viciously attacking her. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of N. San Circle Drive on July 10, KHOU reports.

The teenager suffered more than 100 punctures in just one of her legs as the dogs pinned her to the ground and bit her repeatedly, sinking their teeth into her left leg and scratching at the other,.

'I'm going to die!' she screamed repeatedly, according to neighbors,

When she could not pry open the dog’s jaws, Kasandra managed to use her cell phone to call her father, Juan Ruiz, who was at a home nearby. He rushed to the yard and pulled the dogs off his daughter, according to KHOU.

Kasandra was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment and stitches for the over- 100 wounds she suffered. Although she is expected to recover completely, it will be quite a while before she will be able to walk. Photographs in her hospital bed show a large amount of blood still seeping onto the sheets over her legs.

'She's got a lot of pain,' her father told KHOU.

Juan Ruiz said the puppies had known his daughter since they were four weeks old and she had helped him raise them.

While Ruiz insisted the dogs had never shown any aggression before or caused any problems, but a neighbor told KHOU reporters that these Pit Bulls had previously attacked and killed a neighbor's Shih Tzu.

The neighbor, Lucero Almazan, said that she is now concerned for the safety of the children in the community.

The Pit Bulls are in quarantine at Harris County Animal Control. Juan Ruiz said, 'I don't want these dogs back to my house.'
