A 12-year-old German shepherd mix has been held at a busy, high-intake animal control facility since the end of July.

Despite blasting out details through social media sites, the elderly dog remains at the Los Angeles County Animal Control in Gardena, California, Examiner.com reports.

The unnamed canine, known at the facility only by his identification number A4740069, was in poor condition when he was found last month.

A Facebook page called “Saving Carson Shelter Dogs,” which is unaffiliated with the Carson Animal Shelter, wrote on August 2:

He is 12 yrs old and skin and bones but you can still see how gorgeous he is. This sweet guy really needs some help. He is so defeated he would barely make any eye contact and would only lift his head for a second to get this photo. Please take another look at this gentle beauty and SHARE, he deserves to know what it feels like to be loved.
