An alligator reportedly attacked a 100-pound dog at an Alabama park last weekend.

Mavis, the unfortunate pup, was brought to Arlington Park in Mobile by her owner. According to Chris Wilson, the owner’s brother, the two were bound for a fishing trip.

Mavis was reportedly close to the park’s boat launch when an alligator jumped out of the water and attacked her.

The alligator involved is now being looked for by investigators.

According to neighbors, Mavis was a neighborhood dog.

“I think she’s like the Norm of ‘Cheers,’ she was the – you know, Mavis – everybody knew her name,” Nicole Lavirriere, a local resident, told WWLP.

According to Lavirriere, Mavis had regular houses that she would get treats from.

Arlington Park attendee Jayme Corry said that he’s seen small alligators in the park in the past, which makes him scared.
