Snake Causes Emergency Landing On Plane (Video)

| by Michael Doherty

Panic struck on an Aeromexico flight when a snake dangled above a seat before dropping down into the rows (video below).

In a video sure to inspire nightmares, the creature slithers along a baggage compartment before it falls down onto the plane's floor. The surprise caused the plane, which was headed from the city of Torreon to Mexico City, to make a quick landing while animal control took the snake off of the flight, according to Daily Mail.

Officials said it was unclear how the snake got on to the plane, reports CNN.

"The procedures carried out for this flight are currently being evaluated to determine how the animal entered the cabin and measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future," said Aeromexico in a statement.

Indalecio Medina shared a clip of the 5-food viper dangling from the cabin's ceiling before falling onto the floor. A man seated nearby is seen jumping away in fear when the creature fell. Medina said on Twitter, describing the clip, "The Viper flying ... A unique experience in the flight 231 from Aeromexico."

Later, Medina added more tongue-in-cheek detail to his story. "I had to catch it with a blanket and obviously we gave it some magazines to read for a while."

"The snake arrived alive and kicking, frightened but without having paid its airfare," Medina commented. "And best of all, priority when it came to landing and animal control experts waiting for the unexpected traveler."

Several users on Twitter made reference to Samuel Jackson's famous expletive-filled lines from the movie, "Snakes On A Plane," while others simply commented that the experience would have terrified them.
