Actress Chrissy Metz has responded to those who criticized her appearance after she wore a red latex dress to the MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 7.
"For the record, I wear what I want, when I want," wrote the "This Is Us" actress, according to People. "News flash it's MY body. #ThanksTho."
Metz wore a crimson knee-length dress made from latex with short ruffled sleeves, completing the look with flats and a pair of dangle earrings.

Metz's NBC show was nominated for a number of awards during the night, and came out on top in the Tearjerker category.
Metz previously defended pop singer Lady Gaga after the artist received criticism about her appearance during her Super Bowl halftime show.
"That made me bonkers, bananas crazy," Metz said of the body-shaming Gaga received. "How is someone fat if they're not fat?"
"I wanna see somebody else get on that damn stage and do what the hell she did," she added.

In People's 2017 World's Most Beautiful issue, the actress wrote a letter to her younger self, telling her to "stop comparing yourself" to other people.
"You are just as important and beautiful as Amy, the most gorgeous cheerleader in your entire school, even if your hair isn't the perfect natural shade of honey blonde or because your clothes aren't from Guess or that your curves look VERY different from hers," wrote Metz.
"We are all on our own journey and YOU are the driver," she continued. "There will be bumps in the road, detours to be taken and pit stops will have to be made, but you've got to fill 'er up and keep going. You will lose your map, but never your intuition."
"Allow every smile, frown and town you drive through to open your mind, but never close your heart," she concluded. "One day you will appreciate the upgrade of that cruise control but never take your eye off that winding road you have paved by being courageously you!"
Fans responded to Metz's May 7 tweet, telling the actress to keep defending herself from critics.
