Authorities in San Diego, California, responded to what was described as an “active shooter” situation at the city’s Naval Medical Center around 8 a.m. PST on Jan. 26.
The shooting was first reported via the medical center’s Facebook page.
“**!ATTENTION!** An active shooter has just been been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight,” the post read.
“All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134.”
According to CNN, people were evacuated from the building, and law enforcement took positions nearby, keeping pedestrians away.
Medical Center spokesman Mike Alvarez described the incident as an “active shooter situation.”
