Man Who Made His Dad A Promise 23 Years Ago Makes Good On It (Video)

When this man was just eight years old he promised his father that he would get him his dream car for his 57th birthday. His dad may have forgotten, but the boy never did.

Mike King, 31, said his father Roger King always wanted a 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

“He grew up poor in a family of 7 children,” Mike wrote on YouTube. “He never thought he would be able to own his dream vehicle but would talk about it all the time.”

“I never forgot and was able to fulfill my promise,” he said.

“Oh my, oh my. This is real. This is real,” Roger King said as he climbed into the driver’s seat. “You’re kidding me. This is spotless, man.”

“Explanation on what he was doing,” Mike captioned in the video, “One of our cornhole boards was broken and we were trying to rig it to stay up, while he was occupied I opened my garage to show the vehicle. He was too intent on fixing the board that he didn't notice the garage opening which took my sister saying ‘there’s something we can fix it with in the garage, there.’”

Mike bought the car two years ago in New Hampshire and hid it so he could give it to Roger on his birthday. His father didn’t realize that he had helped his son pick out the car.

“We would talk about older vehicles so to gauge how much he would enjoy it […] I would show him pictures of it from the listing I found, unknown to him that it would actually be his one day,” Belairboy wrote. “He would get so excited and talk about owning something like that but that he ‘knew he never would be able to,’ little did he know.”

"My dad has been everything to me, he is not my biological father but he IS my father," Mike wrote on a Reddit post about the video.
