A 61-year-old man in Davis City, Iowa, is so committed to his job as a janitor working the overnight shift that he reportedly walks 35 miles along Interstate Highway 35 and leaves hours before work starts in order to clock in on time.
Steve Simoff reportedly departs from his apartment at 3:30 p.m. each day in order to get to get to his job, located at the Lakeside Casino in Osceola, reports The Des Moines Register. He doesn't clock in until 11 p.m. for his overnight shift as a janitor. The man, who reportedly lives with his wife and unemployed grandson, Steven, 22, whom they adopted, owns a 2002 Ford Windstar minivan that has 105,000 miles on its odometer, but doesn't take it to work because of the cost of gas.
Simoff doesn't reportedly consider himself special or a hero and says he does what he has to do to support his family.
"First of all, when you got a family, and you've got a job," Simoff said, "you've got to be able to support your family. And you've got to keep your job — the most two important things I can think of."

Simoff reportedly earns $9.07 an hour at his job, while his wife receives a disability benefit after having suffering a stroke, reports The Independent. They live in Davis City because he says his rent is affordable, at $400 a month.
Simoff is the second person in the last few weeks to make headlines for enduring a difficult work commute. Last month, Detroit native James Robertson, 56, caught the nation's attention after it was discovered he walks 12 miles round trip to get to his factory job. Robertson received $350,000 from a GoFundMe page set up for him and Ford donated a Taurus for him to drive.
Simoff says news about his plight won't change his routine. "If I don't get to work, bills don't get paid," he said. "As long as my two feet are good and my health is good, I don't think I'll change."
