This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Zachary was rushed to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth in critical condition. He died from injuries in the hospital’s emergency room, the father told the news station.

Darek said his son, who has autism, had wandered out of the house and into the locked vehicle where he was later found.

"I don't know how I'm going to live," Darek told reporters. "He was happy to go to school (tomorrow). He knew he was going to go."

According to the National Weather Service, the outside temperature reached 97 degrees in nearby Cleburne that afternoon, USA Today reported. As of Aug. 12, a San Jose University study has documented 14 heatstroke deaths of children left in hot cars in the U.S. this year. Thirty-one such deaths occurred in 2014.
