A teenage Malaysian boy had a fetus removed from his stomach after complaining of abdominal pains.

Mohd Zul Shahril Saidin carried the fetus of his dead twin around for 15 years before it was discovered, according to Metro.

The incident is believed to be the first case of fetus in fetu in Malaysia. The condition affects only one in every 500,000 births worldwide.

Fetus in fetu occurs when twins are developing in the womb and one fetus envelops the other. The parasitic fetus is usually not able to survive.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

“The fetus removed from my son’s stomach was formed with organs like those of a baby, only the nose and mouth were not complete,” Shahril’s mother, Hasmah Ahmad, told The Rakyat Post, which reported that the fetus had hair, legs and hands.

Ahmad said her son had been complaining of pain for about four months before the fetus was removed.

She confirmed that funeral rites had been performed on the fetus and it was subsequently buried at a cemetery.

“When he was 1 year old, the doctors suspected something was growing in his stomach with the shape of a head and asked to bring Shahril to the hospital if he was in pain,” Ahmad said after the surgery, according to CILISOS. "But his condition seemed normal until four months ago, when he started vomiting frequently and complaining of pain."

Medical officials reportedly declined to comment on the case. Efforts by reporters to visit the teenager while he was in the hospital were also unsuccessful.
