A 107-year-old man has been shot and killed following a standoff with a SWAT team at a Pine Bluff, Ark., home.

According to KATV, Lt. David Price said that when officers arrived at the home, they learned that an aggravated assault had occurred against two people. Authorities asked the two victims to leave the home and walked up to the bedroom door where Monroe Isadore was supposed to be.

When officers identified themselves to Isadore, the 107-year-old reportedly shot at them through the door, but no officer was injured. The cops then requested backup and police supervisors began negotiating with the suspect as soon as they arrived.

The SWAT team arrived and, after inserting a camera into a bedroom window, confirmed that Isadore was armed with a handgun, reports Fox News.

After negotiations were unsuccessful, the SWAT team pumped gas in the room from outside the bedroom window, hoping that Isadore would surrender peacefully.

However, Isadore fired more shots at a SWAT entry team, who threw a distraction device into the room after breaching the door. Isadore continued shooting at the entry team, who then shot and killed him.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
