Woman Lists College Degree On eBay: 'Never Been Used'

A recent college graduate is selling her Bachelor's degree for $50,000 on eBay after struggling to find employment for four years.

Stephanie Ritter, 26, majored in theater at Florida State University from 2007 to 2011 and graduated with honors, the Daily Mail reports. Now $40,000 in debt and living in Los Angeles, she has been unable to find a job in her field and works as a personal assistant.

"I thought this piece of paper [had] so much worth to so many people, but for a theater major, it couldn’t mean less," Ritter told BuzzFeed, according to the Daily Mail. "I’m doing the exact same things and probably getting paid the exact same amount as people that dropped out halfway through freshman year, except I’m still $40,000 in debt and they’re, well, not."

According to her eBay posting, Ritter is selling the "full Florida State experience," in which she will show the buyer around her school and give a quick overview of college life, featuring a tour of "everywhere you would have gone/eaten/partied in your four years at FSU."

In addition to shipping the diploma for free, Ritter also offers "access to all of my college memories/Facebook albums for six months," admission to a theater school show, and "a very quick drive by my former drug dealer/yoga teacher's house" and "the spots I got speeding tickets in between classes."

"Why waste four years of your life going to a state school for a piece of paper when you can just buy mine?" she wrote. "I graduated from Florida State University in 2011 and have yet to use my diploma, so save yourself the time and buy college experience**featuring diploma!"

She mentions that the diploma is "brand new" as it has "never been used to get a job before!"

Ritter recommends using it in several ways, including as a resume-booster, a set-dressing, a "very large coaster," or "if your name is also Stephanie Ritter and you have $50,000 laying around for a really solid joke!"
