An Islamophobic customer was caught harassing a Muslim shopper at a Trader Joe's grocery store in Reston, Virginia (video below).
A clip of the incident was uploaded to Facebook on May 7, reports the Daily Mail.
The scene occurred after a Muslim woman, who requested anonymity, allegedly let another woman in front of her as a courtesy, because the women seemed to be in a hurry.

However, the woman soon began making disparaging comments about another shopper in the store who was wearing a niqab -- the veil for the face that leaves the area around the eyes uncovered.
At that point, the Muslim woman said, "I shouldn't have let you in front of me." To which the other woman replied: "I wish they didn't let you in the country."
When the Muslim said "I was born here," the Islamaphobe responded sarcastically. "Oh you were? Okay," she said, then added: "Obama's not in office anymore. We don't have a Muslim in there anymore…. He may be in jail too in the future."
The Muslim then told the Islamaphobe: "You look a little crazy, maybe you need to get some help…. because you don't just strike up a conversation with people in line talking about stuff like that if you're normal."

According to a report issued by the Pew Research Center in Nov. 2016, anti-Muslim assaults in the U.S. have reached 9/11-era levels.
"Overall, the FBI reported 257 incidents of anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2015, a 67% increase from the previous year," notes the report. "These incidents included 301 individual crimes, 71% of which were crimes against people, as opposed to property. (Incidents can encompass more than one crime.) By contrast, crimes perpetrated against other religious groups more often involved property offenses, such as vandalism or theft. For example, 64% of anti-Jewish and 51% of anti-Catholic offenses in 2015 involved vandalism, compared with just 23% of anti-Muslim offenses."
In a January 2016 Pew Research Center poll, 59% of Americans said there is “a lot” of discrimination against Muslims in the United States today, and 76% said discrimination against Muslims in the U.S. was increasing. The Southern Poverty Law Center reported more than 30 anti-Muslim hate crimes in the five days following the 2016 presidential election alone.
Since being uploaded to Facebook, the Trader Joe's incident has received more than 615,000 views and more than 9,600 shares.
