A college basketball player who attended a press conference on Wednesday dropped the ball after he unknowingly whispered something about a “beautiful” stenographer into the microphone.
During a televised Sweet Sixteen press conference (below) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, University of Wisconsin Badgers sophomore Nigel Hayes, 20, loudly whispered to one of his teammates, “Gosh, she’s beautiful.”
According to the Daily Mail, the woman he was referring to was 43-year-old Debra Bollman, a stenographer for ASAP Sports.
But what Hayes didn’t realize was that his microphone was switched on, and it picked up his comment, causing the audience to burst into laughter.
“Did you hear that?” he asked the woman before covering his face with his hands in embarrassment.
According to ESPN, the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels with a 79-72 victory, advancing them to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA March Madness tournament.
