Kids do the darndest things.

An unidentified child has become a viral sensation for shaving his own head (video below).

The boy, whose hairline now looks like it’s receded to the back of his skull, appears regretful in the clip. “I’ll never touch daddy’s razor again,” he said, nearly in tears. The man behind the camera, reportedly the boy’s father, prompted the son to apologize and he did, with a mournful, “I sorry.”

The 17-second clip has been viewed nearly 500,000 times since it was uploaded on YouTube. However, some don’t believe that the video tells the whole truth. “Seems to me the dad done it to his son for views,” wrote a YouTube user known as Nicholas Wright. Other users agreed - Wright’s comment was liked nearly 250 times. “Looks a bit too even for him to have done it to himself,” agreed YouTube user Rogue Habit.

Whether or not the video is real remains to be seen, but kids cutting their own hair is not uncommon. In Dec. 2015, a video of 3-year-old Ansleigh explaining why she gave herself a quasi-mullet with bald patches went viral, garnering more than 3 million views. "I want to know how to do it," she tearfully explained in the video. "I was just practicing today."

In that instance, Ansleigh’s father, Chad Clark, was reassuring, Today reported. "Your hair will grow again,” Clark said. "You better not cut it again when you're little… we'll get you some scissors when you get bigger.”

Ansleigh finished the video by saying, “I love you.”
