Supermodel Gigi Hadid has been criticized on social media for delivering a "racist" impression of Melania Trump while hosting the American Music Awards Nov. 20 (video below).
The 21-year-old beauty mocked the upcoming first lady by imitating an Eastern European accent and excessively pouting Melania-style while saying lines that refer to her recent plagiarism of a First Lady Michelle Obama speech.
"I love my husband, President Barack Obama. And our children Sasha and Malia," Hadid said, in a joke referring to President-elect Donald Trump's wife having delivered parts of a Michelle Obama speech at the Republican National Convention in July, the Daily Mail reports.
Her co-host, Jay Pharaoh, also poked fun at Trump.

"I don't know what color he is, so I can't deport him," Pharoah said about singer Bruno Mars while imitating Trump, AOL reports. "Did you know that 'Uptown Funk' was originally called 'Uptown Trump?' I'm going to funk this country up bigly."
Hadid's impression was judged the most memorable part of the show, which saw the model go through multiple outfit changes as well as dance and rap in the opening monologue.
But Hadid's impersonation of Melania riled some of the show's viewers who considered it "racist" and led to calls for Hadid to "stick to modeling" instead.
One tweet issued in response to Hadid's impersonation read: "Melania Trump is going to [be] the First Lady of the USA. This was the highest form of disrespect possible."

Another Twitter user said: "Gigi is so uncomfortable to watch."
Others urged Hadid to "leave the country" for having a strong unfavorable view of the new presidential family.
Yet another wrote: "I really wish gigi hadid wasn't hosting because second hand embarrassment is my least favorite thing to feel and i'm drowning in it rn."
"The funny thing is, if Melania was black, she wouldn't DARE attempt an impersonation," argued another Twitter user, as others deemed it an "embarrassment."
One Twitter user predicted Trump would react to Hadid's imitation: "Tomorrow morning [Trump] will tweet demanding Gigi Hadid to apologize for the Melania Trump impression. #AMAs."
The president-elect has not yet mentioned the skit in his tweets.
