It's not uncommon for people to give away their pets on Craiglist, especially when circumstances make it tricky to keep their dogs or cats.
Whether moving, having problems with the landlord or simply just not having the time to walk the dog every day, people get rid of their animals all the time. So when one woman posted an ad on Craigslist titled, "This is my dog…" it seemed like another animal relinquishment, until you read the whole post.
"She has cost me money I wanted to spend on other things," the woman wrote of her canine friend in the ad, which was posted below a photo of a large, fluffy dog and a small cat, according to Shareably. "She has been inconvenient at times. I've had to arrange my life with her in mind. I wouldn't trade any of it for anything in the world, because I love her and she brings me joy."

According to the woman, she had the dog for six years, despite occasionally "frustrating and infuriating" experiences with the pup.
"Now, to get to the point of this post," she continued. "I want to tell you about something amazing that I did. I MOVED. I moved three times actually. Amazingly, I KEPT MY F***ING DOG! Can you imagine? Did you know someone can move and still keep their dog? What an amazing concept, isn’t it?"
The woman even said her cat contracted feline AIDS, which will require a lot of costly medical bills and might only keep the cat alive for a short period of time, but she's in it for the long haul.
"Guess what?" she wrote. "I'M KEEPING THE F***ING CAT TOO. I'm not going to dump her off on Craigslist to assuage some mild hint of guilt I feel because I’m too lazy, weak and irresponsible to fulfill a commitment I made to a living, loving animal. To all you who do otherwise, F*** YOU!"

She went on to say that she got married, bore a child and switched jobs without getting rid of her pets.
"Am I the only human being alive who's been able to do this?" she asked.
Moving is the number one reason people relinquish their dogs and cats, followed by their landlord not allowing the animal, having too many animals in their household and cost of pet maintenance, according to a study from National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy, as published by Pet Finder. So it's no surprise that Craiglist has become a popular way to give away animals.
But those were hardly good enough reasons for the woman who posted the Craigslist reprimand.
"I hope your spouse leaves you, penniless and alone," she said to those who relinquish their pets without trying to find a way to keep them, according to Shareably. "May God keep you, though you don't deserve it."
