Two Washington Nationals Players Fight In Dugout (Video)

| by Michael Allen

The Washington Nationals suspended Jonathan Papelbon on Sept. 28 for four games without pay after he reportedly tried to choke teammate Bryce Harper on Sept. 27 (video below).

Papelbon and Harper had a verbal exchange in the dugout before Papelbon grabbed his teammate by the neck and pushed him against a wall until their teammates separated them, according to the Bleacher Report.

Papelbon must first serve a three-game suspension for throwing a baseball at Baltimore Orioles third-baseman Manny Machado, reports ESPN.

Together with the four-game suspension, Papelbon is out for the season.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said in a statement: "The behavior exhibited by Papelbon yesterday is not acceptable. That is not at all in line with the way our players are expected to conduct themselves and the Nationals organization will not tolerate it in any way."

"I grew up with brothers, he grew up with brothers, I view him as a brother," Papelbon said, according to the Bleacher Report. "And sometimes in this game, there's a lot of testosterone and things spill over."

"He apologized, so whatever," Harper said. "I really don't care ... It's like brothers fighting. That's what happens."
