Although the news coverage has, to a certain extent, drifted away from the masses of Syrian refugees attempting to escape war, people are still migrating through dangerous waters in search of a better life. (Video below)

On Oct. 21, Turkish fishermen working off the coast of the city of Aidyn spotted an 18-month-old boy floating in the Aegean Sea, Mirror reported. The fisherman first believed the toddler was dead, but the quickly realized he was still alive - possibly saved by his life jacket.

Though the toddler survived, two boats reportedly capsized in the Aegean Sea that day. Two refugees are confirmed dead, but 31 people are still missing.

According to a United Nations report, more than 4 million Syrians have fled their homes.
