Sting's 25-year-old daughter, Eliot Sumner, recently said that she does not identify with any gender.
Sumner made this announcement to the London Evening Standard's ES magazine, and she also disclosed that she has been in a relationship with Austrian model Lucie Von Alten for two years. The interview was released on the magazine's website on Dec. 2.
Sumner was asked by the magazine if she had come out as a lesbian to her friends and famous family, and she replied, "[N]o one had ever asked.”
“They knew already,” Sumner said. “So I didn’t need to. I’ve never come out to anyone. My friends always knew and I always knew."
Sumner, who is going to release her second album in January 2016, added that she doesn't use gender “labels." She does not identify with any gender but rather self-identifies as a “musician."
“I don’t believe in any specifications,” Sumner said.
“I think forever I was trying to figure out maybe … what I am," she added. "But I don’t think anyone should feel pressured to have any kind of label or tag on them."
Sumner will be modeling for a major fashion label in January but did not disclose which fashion label.
Sumner used to go by the name Coco, which was also part of the title of her first album in 2010, "I Blame Coco," the Daily Mail notes.
Sumner lives with Von Alten in London, and her parents have been married for 23 years.
